SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS — The Spring Lake Heights Board of Education (BOE) voted to adopt its school district budget for 2024-2025 during its monthly meeting held on Monday.
The total tentative budget for next year is $12,175,401. The total tax levy is $10,024,769. The taxes have risen by 2.48%, the presentation said; the average household tax bill is to increase by $97.21. The remaining $2,150,632 from the budget comes from less anticipated revenues.
The total tax levy is broken up between $9,485,587 from general funds and $539,182 from debt services.
BOE members unanimously approved the budget, with a motion and second from members Anthony Carnahan and James Carey Jr. The district said it had five goals when formulating the budget for next school year; “Maintain all instructional programs and services, maintain current staffing levels, continuing the district’s focus on maximum student achievement, continuing awareness of student and staff social-emotional wellness and providing for required maintenance of the Spring Lake Heights Elementary school.”
“I would like to thank the board and superintendent for their assistance and support in preparing the budget,” School Business Administrator Matthew Varley told The Coast Star following the meeting. “Spring Lake Heights is a tight-knit and supportive community and I’m honored to work on their behalf.”
