WALL TOWNSHIP — Hundreds of racing fans took to the stands last Saturday evening for the Wall Stadium Speedway’s 74th annual opening night in anticipation of an exciting season ahead.
Fans of all ages gathered in the pit from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. to see who was going to take home first place during the first races of the season with four different categories – 25 laps TQ Midget, 25 laps Legend Cars, 25 laps Sportsman, 25 laps Fast 4, 40 laps Modified Feature and 25 laps Factory Stock.
Jackson Township resident Carsten DiGiantomasso won first place in the 40 lap Modified Feature category. For race results, see the sports section, page 47.
“We wrecked this car real bad in Florida in February and my guys had to do a ton of work to get it here tonight,” DiGiantomasso said after the race, in an April 20 press release by Wall Stadium Speedway. “Thanks to my dad, my mom and my crew we were able to get the job done.”
