LAKE COMO — The borough is being sued over dissatisfaction with the Lake Como fountain, Borough Attorney Marguerite Schaffer announced at Tuesday night’s council meeting.
According to Ms. Schaffer, the borough is being sued by two residents whose properties abut the lake, “claiming that the fountain that many of us, many residents, have found to be very pleasant, is a nuisance.”
The identity of the residents was not made available.
“There’s an order to show cause returnable on May 1st and we intend to oppose it vigorously, because I think the mayor and council have decided that the fountain is a good thing,” Ms. Schaffer said.
The fountain was installed in 2022 to provide movement in the lake, allowing more oxygen into the water and suppressing bacterial growth that can harm the air or water, as well as to decrease the smell of algae from the lake.
