BAY HEAD — Centennial Park was treated to the first Music in the Park this season, as The Group Therapy Band rocked Bay Head residents all evening long.
This event welcomed individuals, families, residents and tourists to the park behind municipal hall for Bay Head Life’s summer concert series. Dozens of residents came out to the event with chairs and towels in hand to watch the band, which played from 6 to 9 p.m.
Vicki McHugh, one of the coordinators for this event, told The Ocean Star, “I thought the event went well. I was very happy with the band…I thought they were a lot of fun, really nice guys.”
This was one of two Music in the Parks, with the next one scheduled for Labor Day weekend to round out the summer. The band that will play then will be Me and Bobby D.
“This is something fun that is going to grow organically,” said McHugh. “The idea of being able to bring a picnic, beach chairs, blankets and just enjoy some camaraderie of people in the neighborhood is our whole goal, while also bringing music to the community.”
Councilwoman Holly MacPherson, who also chairs Bay Head Recreation, told The Ocean Star that these events are an important part to the Bay Head community, and the recreation department will continue to hold events like this throughout the summer.
