BAY HEAD — For 139 years, the borough of Bay Head has stood proudly as a small community near the Atlantic Ocean, and its residents will celebrate that this weekend with the annual Founders Day speaker series.
This Saturday at the Bay Head Firehouse, 81 Bridge Ave., the community is invited to join the annual speaker series, where residents will be able to talk about the past, present and future of Bay Head. This year, the topic of conversation will be about The Bluffs and its untold stories.
The speaker series will kick off at 4 p.m. and will run for about an hour.
The Bluffs was a hotel and bar on the beachfront at East Avenue and Chadwick Street. It was demolished in 1996. Currently, residential homes stand where the hotel used to stand.
Last year, hundreds of residents gathered at the firehouse to hear more about the history of Bay Head from representatives of some of the most prominent families that helped build Bay Head.
