POINT PLEASANT — The Point Pleasant Borough School District held its first Moving Up Ceremony at Nellie Bennett Elementary School to celebrate 60 preschool students across four classes on Thursday, June 12.
“We are thrilled to celebrate our first-ever Pre-K Moving Up Ceremony,” said Adam Angelozzi, Superintendent of the Point Pleasant Borough School District. “Being able to offer free, high-quality pre-kindergarten to families in our community is a tremendous step forward, and we are hopeful that we can continue to expand this program in the coming years, providing even more children with a strong foundation for their educational journey.”
During the ceremony, students received diplomas from their teachers and performed a song for their families. The celebration concluded with a slideshow highlighting memorable moments throughout the school year.
This first preschool was established with funding via Preschool Education Aid through the New Jersey Department of Education. The Point Pleasant School District expanded its preschool program in January 2025 by opening three new classes at Nellie Bennett Elementary School.
The program operates five days a week, six hours per day, and follows the district calendar. The typical preschool day includes morning meeting, choice time, small group instruction, gross motor, music and movement, reading aloud, rest, snacks and lunch.
Preschool enrollment for the 2025-2026 school year will open on Saturday, June 28, at 9 a.m. and will accept enrollment requests for children who will be age 3 or 4 by Oct. 1. Parents and guardians will be able to access the form on the Preschool Program webpage.
Preschool orientation for the 2025 to 2026 school year is expected to take place in August, with the program beginning on Sept. 3.
