SPRING LAKE — St. Catharine-St. Margaret Parish, presented by the school’s Parent Teacher Association (PTA) is hosting its 60th annual Candlelight Ball, its largest fundraiser of the year on Friday, July 18, now coinciding with the popular Casino Night.
The Candlelight Ball was first held in 1965 and was formerly held at the Spring Lake Bath and Tennis Club. It has evolved and changed over the years since its inception, including its relocation to the Spring Lake Golf Club.
From 6:30 to 10:30 p.m., community members aged 21-plus are welcome to join in on an evening of fun and togetherness at the golf club while supporting the operations of St. Catharine School and its properties.
Erin Janides, fundraising chairperson of the PTA, said that the goal of the event is to raise funds and connect with the community, adding that it expects to see 500 attendees, an increase of 100 people since last year.
“We’re looking to raise between $75,000 and $100,000, that’s our goal,” she said. “All of the proceeds go to support…two churches, two cemeteries and a school, so you can imagine how much it takes to run all those properties.”
Tickets cost $175, and can be purchased online at SCSlakers.com. Monetary contributions are welcome, regardless of attendance, and sponsorship opportunities are also available online in the same location. The RSVP date to attend the event is July 8.
The evening will include a full buffet, open bar, live music by The Cliffs, dancing, a basket raffle, silent auction and giant auctions, with items donated by local businesses and the community. This year’s contests include a $3,500 travel raffle, various basket raffles, a super 50/50 and a Louis Vuitton bag raffle.
