SPRING LAKE — The Greater Spring Lake Chamber of Commerce hosted Irish vendors and other local businesses at this past weekend’s Spring Lake Irish Festival, drawing a crowd after the event was postponed last weekend due to stormy skies.
The event featured live music by Irish artists, Irish dance performances, varying types of Irish cuisine and other food options, a beer garden and, of course, an Irish soda bread-making contest, turning downtown Spring Lake into an Irish heritage wonderland.
The event also welcomed children, who could enjoy face-painting, balloon art, train rides by Allaire Community Farm and shopping the vendors with their families.
Attracta Lyndon, from Malahide, Dublin, works at The Irish Centre, located at 1120 Third Ave. in town, and spoke to The Coast Star about the perks of participating in the annual Irish Festival.
“It’s been a great day,” Lyndon said. “To be out here at the festival is great. We are very much a part of the festival as The Irish Centre, and we have all imported goods from Ireland.”
