BRADLEY BEACH — The Bradley Beach Board of Education met on Tuesday, June 24, to discuss the reappointment of three staff members. The district is required to address administrative contracts annually, according to superintendent Michael Heidelberg.
David Tonzola, who was present at the meeting, was reappointed as school business administrator and board secretary. A school business administrator is in charge of making sure the finances of the school are running smoothly and are able to support its educational mission.
The board also approved reappointments of other administrative faculty, including Morgan Maclearie-Gonzalez for the position of director of curriculum and instruction and Alison Zylinski for the position of director of special services and school social worker, for the 2025 to 2026 school year. Zylinski is in charge of planning and coordination of all special education services, and Maclearie-Gonzalez oversees the implementation of educational programs.
GRANT FOR PLAYGROUND RENOVATION
The board also discussed the recently awarded Local Recreation Improvement Grant 2025 from the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, which is a “competitive grant that supports improvements and repair of public recreation facilities,” according to the meeting agenda.
The board plans to use the $88,000 award to “create an Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA)- compliant playground where children of all abilities from Bradley Beach and surrounding towns can learn and play together,” according to the meeting agenda. “ADA-compliant playgrounds are designed to be more accessible to students with disabilities, with specialized equipment and design elements to support the goal,” Heidelberg said in an email. “These upgrades are typically very costly, which is why the grant was so important.”
