POINT PLEASANT BEACH — The Point Pleasant Beach Cultural Arts Committee’s Party by the Sea fundraiser returns on May 29, benefiting both the committee and the local art community with a social night of food, art and music.
The committee will also hold its juried art show concurrently with the party. These events will take place at The Lobster Shanty, 83 Channel Drive. Art categories represented include painting, mixed media and photography.
Tickets cost $55 and include both Party by the Sea and the art show as well as passed hors d’oeuvres, and can be purchased at arts.pointpleasantbeach.org/events/party-by-the-sea-2025. Artists can register for the juried art show at arts.pointpleasantbeach.org/events/juried-art-show-2025 as well until May 15. Artist entry is $45 for up to two pieces, with entry to Party by the Sea included for the artist fee. Visit the site for more information.
“It is very unique and different and it’s a really fun event,” said Party by the Sea event chair Tracey Jackson. “Party by the Sea is interactive. You’re not just observing; it’s interactive. You can speak with the artists and see in real time how they do their craft.”
Culinary art displays from local Point Beach businesses, local musicians and ballroom dancers as well as art demonstrations are set for the event, including music from Doc & The Remedy, blackout art by Sonia Fisher, pottery demonstrations and different types of musical performances.
“They do live demonstrations, so it’s not that you’re just attending and looking at artists’ works — they are creating art right there, live,” said Jackson.
A prize of $300 will be awarded after the show for overall best in show. Both categories — fine art/mixed media and photography, will have first, second and third-place prizes of $150, $100 and $50 respectively. There will also be a people’s choice award of $100 given the night of Party by the Sea based on the piece that gets the most votes.
A cash bar will also be available. The event will take place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, at The Lobster Shanty. An online gallery of the art submissions will be posted to the site on May 10.
