WALL TOWNSHIP — The Historic Village at Allaire, located at 4263 Atlantic Ave., hosted two weekends in a row of Easter celebrations, bringing thousands of locals out to see live animals, hang out with the Easter Bunny and explore the various historical buildings on site.
The event helps to fundraise for the Historic Village at Allaire, which provides a historic experience for all who visit and hosts an abundance of activities throughout the year, including events for holidays such as Christmas, Halloween and more.
This year’s Easter celebration included activities like seeing live chicks, bunnies and other baby animals, crafts, including a unique bonnet decorating activity to take attendees back in time with their fashion; a bubble magician, glitter tattoos, a scavenger hunt, egg collections around the village and more. Thousands came out to the two-weekend celebration, all helping to raise money for the village’s continued operation.
Daryl Lynn O’Connell, Director of Development and Operations at the Historic Village at Allaire, spoke to The Coast Star about the benefits of the Easter celebration for the community.
“At Allaire Village we are all about bringing families and friends together,” O’Connell said. “It’s much like what James P. Allaire did when he created this village in the 1830s. This Easter celebration is a time to enjoy the spring season and bring the community together in such a beautiful and historic setting.”
O’Connell spoke about the biggest hits from the event, with the Easter Bunny unsurprisingly remaining one of the most popular features of the celebration. Kids and their families were able to spend time with the bunny and snag a photo to capture
“The Easter Bunny was definitely the biggest hit,” O’Connell said. “Along with the baby chicks, bunnies from the 4-H Club, toy-filled eg-collecting, hearth cooking, a scavenger hunt, crafts, an aerialist and the bubble magician, to just name a few favorites.”
