BRICK TOWNSHIP — The township council adopted four bond ordinances ranging from five to 15 year lives at the April 8 council meeting.
Councilwoman Heather deJong said, “The 2025 capital budget totals $10 million, at the outset, the total requests for capital funds exceeded $20 million, but the department heads worked hard to back into manageable numbers.”
According to the councilwoman, highlights of the capital budget include a refurbished ambulance, portable radios for EMS, replacements for the body-worn camera system that is nearing the end of its life cycle, solar-powered speed signs and more.
The bond ordinances are each for varying amounts. The five-year bond ordinance appropriates $2,702,012, which authorizes the issuance of $2,566,912 in bonds or notes to help finance the capital budget.
The five-year bond ordinance includes a down payment of $135,100, which is available for said improvements and purposes.
The five-year bond ordinance helps fund the acquisition of an inspector’s vehicle for the inspections division, a jet ski, a trailer tug/tractor used for moving boat trailers, a hydraulic boat trailer for boats over 40 feet, and more.
The seven-year bond ordinance appropriates $465,500 and will authorize the issuance of $442,225 bonds or notes for the township. The seven-year bond ordinance has a down payment of $23,275.
The seven-year bond ordinance will fund the purchase of 55 personal computers and 26 laptops to replace existing ones for various departments within the township, as well as a surveillance camera security system for the surrounding grounds at the Civic Plaza and more.
