BRICK TOWNSHIP — The Democrat and Republican candidates for the June 10 primary election have officially been announced by the Ocean County Clerk’s office. In Brick Township, the mayor’s seat and three council seats are up for election.
The seat for mayor is a four-year term.
On the Democrat side of the ballot, incumbent Mayor Lisa Crate is running unopposed for the nod to run as the mayoral candidate in November’s election. Crate was first appointed to the position of mayor on Feb. 28, 2023 and later won her bid for a two-year unexpired term to fill the remainder of former Mayor John Ducey’s term in November of 2023.
On the Republican side, newcomer Madeline Colagiovanni Iannarone is running unopposed for the nod to run as the mayoral candidate in November’s election. Iannarone currently serves as the president of the Brick Township Board of Education. She first won a seat on the board of education in 2022 for a three-year term, which expires this year.
Each of the three seats on the council are for four-year terms.
The three Democratic-endorsed candidates for the council are incumbent Councilwoman Heather deJong, and newcomers Dan Ward and Rocco Lepore. The three candidates are running unopposed to appear on the November ballot. DeJong is currently serving in her third term as a council member and is seeking a fourth term in November.
The three Republican-endorsed candidates for council are incumbent Perry Albanese, and newcomers Lisa Reina and Greg Cohen. Albanese is currently serving his first term after winning a council seat in the 2021 general election.
The four Democratic candidates, Crate, deJong, Ward and Lepore are running under “Crate Team For Brick.”
The four Republican candidates, Iannarone, Albanese, Reina and Cohen, are running under “Endorsed Ocean County Regular Republican Organization.”
