POINT PLEASANT BEACH — The Point Pleasant Beach Recreation Committee previewed upcoming spring and summer programs like pickleball, the Egg Hunt and the Summer Concert Series at its monthly meeting Monday.
Registration for events requiring it can be found at pointpleasantbeachnj.myrec.com/info/activities.
EGG HUNT
The recreation committee’s annual egg hunt will take place at Pleasure Park, located on the corner of Forman and St. Louis avenues, on Saturday, April 12, from noon to 3 p.m. The rain date is the following day, Sunday, April 13.
Included in this year’s event will be music, crafts and a visit from the Easter Bunny. Additionally, attendees are encouraged to wear their most extravagant hats to participate in the accompanying hat parade to win prizes.
There are three age groups for participants: 1 to 4 years old, 5 to 8 years old and 9 to 12 years old. The event is free, but registration is required to attend. This event is for Point Pleasant Beach residents only.
Registration is currently open.
PICKLEBALL
The recreation committee’s adult pickleball program is also returning from May to September. Sessions are available for Monday/Wednesday and Tuesday/Thursday programs. Each day’s slot is from 4 to 7 p.m., and sessions will take place at Pleasure Park.
Monday and Wednesday registration for the entire season — May 19 to Sept. 29 — opens Sunday, March 28, at noon for residents and April 11 at noon for non-residents. The sign-up fee is $75. According to the recreation committee, players in the Monday and Wednesday slots should anticipate a higher level of play.
Tuesday and Thursday slots are to be registered on a week-by-week basis, with each Tuesday/Thursday session fee costing $10. Registration opens Sunday, March 28, at noon for residents and non-residents.
“Please do not register if you cannot commit to playing at least 30% of the days. At the discretion of the recreation volunteers, we reserve the right to have low-attendance registrants, with notice, surrender their spot in order to allow others to play,” says the recreation committee on its registration site.
