LAKE COMO — The borough council passed a resolution awarding a contract for improvements to Margerum Avenue during its meeting last Tuesday, March 4.
The contract was awarded to Jads Construction Co. Inc, of South River, in the amount of $284,862.36, which will be funded by a 2024 New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) Municipal Aid Grant.
Borough Engineer Sam Avakian told The Coast Star that the upcoming improvements are to “21st Avenue, 22nd Avenue and the completion of the remainder of Margerum Avenue.” He said that the project is funded by the NJDOT Transportation Trust Fund (TTF), which is supported by the state’s gas tax, along with borough funds.
The scope of work, according to Avakian, includes ADA-compliant curb ramps, drainage improvements, curb and sidewalk repairs and roadway resurfacing to enhance safety and accessibility for residents and visitors. “These improvements will ensure safer and more efficient travel throughout the borough,” he said.
“This investment in our local infrastructure demonstrates the importance of reinvesting in our roadways, and we appreciate the NJDOT’s continued support in making these enhancements possible,” Avakian said.
According to the resolution, offered by Councilman Christopher D’Antuono, eight bids were received for the project on Feb. 5, with the apparent low bid submitted by Jads Construction Co. Inc.
