SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS — The Spring Lake Heights Board of Education met Monday, naming eighth-grader Justin Child as Student Achiever of the Year and introducing a new artificial intelligence policy.
“Each Spring Lake Heights School Superintendent and Principal John Spalthoff introduced Student Achiever of the Year for 2024 to 2025, Justin Child.
“Each year, every middle school in Monmouth County is invited to participate in the Monmouth County School Boards Association Eighth Grade Dialogue and Reception,” Spalthoff said. “This student recognition program honors eighth-grade students whose character, determination, school spirit, leadership and community service inspire all of us. The student does not have to be the highest-ranking student in the class, and the students selected will have the opportunity to share their thoughts and feelings about their elementary and middle school experiences, aspirations and recommendations on how we can improve our schools.”
Spalthoff spoke of Child, honoring his hard work throughout the school year.
“I’m excited to recognize Justin Child, who was selected as our Student Achiever for the ‘24-’25 school year,” Spalthoff said. “The teachers and the administration recognize your determination, your school spirit, your leadership and your community service, but most importantly, Justin, your character. We consider these traits representative of the students at Spring Lake Heights, and we try to cultivate them in each child. You are a role model for all of the other students and everyone in Spring Lake Heights. Congratulations, bud.”
Justin will also receive formal recognition at the school’s annual awards ceremony at the end of the school year, according to Spalthoff.
