POINT PLEASANT — The Point Pleasant Borough Office of Emergency Management (OEM) has been named by the American Red Cross as its New Jersey Central Region Community Partner of the Year.
The OEM team is composed of volunteers who are trained to carry out a mission to reduce the loss of life and property in order to protect our community from all hazards and acts of terrorism that occur within or may affect the borough.
The mayor and council of Point Pleasant honored the OEM team with a proclamation recognizing this achievement at their meeting on Monday.
Mayor Robert Sabosik said during his proclamation, “This is accomplished through collaboration to build, sustain and improve their capabilities to protect against and respond to said hazards via coordination with various departments through the borough including administration, public works, police and other first responders both local and regional ensuring the best results for incident management.”
Recently, the OEM team in Point Pleasant was named by the American Red Cross as its New Jersey Central Region Community Partner of the Year for being such a large part in many events the American Red Cross hosts.
According to a press release from American Red Cross, “The Point Pleasant Borough OEM has consistently participated in multiple Red Cross events over the years. Some of their Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) members also dually volunteer with the Red Cross, creating a partnership that is invaluable in ensuring well-coordinated response during emergencies and disasters. They have provided vital tools and resources to help improve the efficiency of the Red Cross and have advocated and promoted our mission to strengthen community preparedness.”
Mayor Sabosik thanked the OEM team for its “dedication and commitment to our residents and hereby congratulates them on their recent award.”
