MANTOLOKING — The borough council reorganization meeting was held on Jan. 7, featuring the naming of a council president and the swearing in of three members of council.
Borough Attorney Jean Cipriani administered the oath of office to incumbent Councilman Bradford Batcha, incumbent Councilman Sandy Diehl and newcomer Councilwoman Joanna Lygas.
Councilman Batcha’s term is for three years and will expire on Dec. 31, 2027. Councilman Diehl’s term is for two years and will expire on Dec. 31, 2026. Councilwoman Lygas’ term is for three years and will expire on Dec. 31, 2027.
Councilwoman Barbara Benz nominated Councilman Anthony Amarante to again serve as council president. Amarante first served as council president in September 2023 after then-Council President Douglas Nelson stepped down from council.
Mayor Lance White said, “I always enjoy this meeting for lots of different reasons. One of them is that we get to swear in and reunite in a way with two people who have already served and Joann, who has not served and is joining us. It’s an exciting thing for the governing body and for the town.”
