WALL TOWNSHIP/BRICK TOWNSHIP — A location in Wall Township and three locations in Brick Township are among the places added to the drone restrictions list in New Jersey as of Dec. 23. All four restricted areas are in effect through Jan. 19.
The restrictions came in response to reports by the public and the military last month about the appearance of unidentified drones flying at night in the Garden State.
Prior to these additions, neither Wall or Brick was included in a restriction list that the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) announced on Dec. 18. That list included drone flight prohibition at 23 locations, none of which were in Monmouth or Ocean county.
The list now includes the NJFX Carrier-Neutral Data Center in Wall, the Brick Township Reservoir, the Brick Township Municipal Utilities Authority Treatment Plant and the Brick location of the Ocean County Utilities Authority Treatment Plant.
Other sites added are the Ocean County Utilities Authority Treatment Plant locations in Berkeley and Stafford townships, Swimming River Reservoir Treatment Plant in Colts Neck, Sea Streak Ferry Terminal in Highlands and the Belford section of Middletown, Jumping Brook Reservoir in Neptune, Middletown Township Sewerage Authority and Fort Hancock on Sandy Hook.
