SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS — Students who are involved in the Wingman Movement at Spring Lake Heights School and visiting students from Sea Girt Elementary School participated in a training event Friday, a part of ongoing efforts to bring students together and show them their own power.
The Wingman Movement was spearheaded at Spring Lake Heights School by guidance counselors Dana Wilson and Meghan Kinsky last school year, in partnership with Robb Armstrong of the Wingman Movement. The Wingman Movement has a mission to inspire empathy, courage and hope, and to inspire and enhance the lives of all people, including students in schools. On Friday, a camera crew from Wingman was present to film the training as a way to push the positive movement to other schools through social media advertising.
Armstrong, program director and master trainer of the Wingman Movement, spoke to The Coast Star about the training and the overall mission the movement has for all people, especially young students.
“The students pointed out that they wanted to be a part of something bigger than just themselves individually,” Armstrong said.
