BRIELLE — The borough council held its reorganization meeting on Jan. 6, appointing a council president and announcing professional appointments for the municipality.
Councilman Timothy A. Shaak made a motion, seconded by Councilman Eliot Colon, to appoint Cort W. Gorham as the 2025 council president. The council then unanimously appointed Councilman Gorham as council president.
Gorham said, “I’d like to thank my fellow council members for electing me as president and I wish everyone a very happy and healthy new year…we look forward to the challenges this year. We have a great group up here.”
Prior to the meeting, Colon was sworn in as councilman following his election win this past November. Paul K. Nolan, who also won a seat on the borough council during the election, was not present at Monday’s meeting.
PROFESSIONAL APPOINTMENT
During the council meeting, the council appointed the firm of Montenegro, Thompson, Montenegro & Genz as the borough attorney.
Meghan Bennett Clark of Dilworth-Paxton LLC was appointed as bond counsel.
Alan Hilla of H2M Engineering was appointed as the borough engineer.
James D. Carton IV was appointed as the borough prosecutor. Adam S. Abramson of Schneider & Cleary, Giacobbe, Alfieri, Jacobs LLC was appointed as the labor counsel. Donald K. Greer, Jr. was appointed as the public defender.
ANNUAL APPOINTMENT
The borough council announced its annual appointments for the 2025 year.
Thomas F. Nolan was appointed as borough administrator, commissioner of insurance and human resources director.
Carol Baran was appointed deputy administrator, officer to issue certificates of liability, relocation officer, public agency compliance officer, mercantile officer and clean commission & recycling coordinator.
James Ham was appointed as the borough historian.
Chris Willms was named the fire protection official and code enforcement officer.
