LAKE COMO — Councilwoman Heather Albala-Doyle and Councilman Christopher D’Antuono were sworn into position during the borough council’s annual reorganization meeting, held Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Incumbents Albala-Doyle and D’Antuono both ran unopposed for their respective seats on the borough council in the November election for new three-year terms. Albala-Doyle received 577 votes and D’Antuono received 579 votes in unofficial tallies on Election Day, with 31 votes cast for write-ins.
Albala-Doyle’s election marks her second full term on borough council and D’Antuono’s election marks his third full term on the borough council.
Joined by their families in front of the dias, Abala-Doyle and D’Antuono were individually sworn into position by Mayor Kevin Higgins. Their returns to the dais were met with applause from the audience.
Following the swearing in ceremony, the borough council nominated and reappointed Councilman Douglas Witte as council president. The nomination was made by Councilwoman Hawley Scull and seconded by Albala-Doyle.
Council President Witte thanked the council for his reappointment to the role.
“I want to thank everybody for their hard work over the past year with the (borough’s) 100th anniversary,” Mayor Kevin Higgins said. “This meeting starts the next century of Lake Como, so we have a lot of work to do this year.”
