POINT PLEASANT — The Girl Scouts are scouting for new members this January.
The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore is hosting an open house on Thursday, Jan. 23, from 5 to 7 p.m. at The Woman’s Club, 513 St. Louis Ave., in Point Pleasant Beach.
Girls of all ages are welcome to come and learn more about Girl Scouts and what the Girl Scout community in Point Pleasant does. The theme is “In My Girl Scout Era” and the Scouts will be making friendship bracelets and crafts and playing lots of games.
“It may or may not turn into a dance party depending on our mood. We will also be raffling off some Taylor Swift-themed prizes including a custom American Girl doll that looks like Taylor (Swift),” said Michelle Coffey, volunteer with the Scouts.
The Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore Point Pleasant community includes all troops from Point Pleasant Borough, Point Pleasant Beach and Bay Head.
Coffey said, “We are a very active community and have lots of great events including a campfire sing-a-long at Riverfront Park, World Thinking Day, bake-offs, pajama parties and camping weekends.”
