MANASQUAN — Clement Bramley, a storied educator who dedicated much of his professional life to the betterment of public education, became the most recent inductee of the Manasquan High School (MHS) Academic Hall of Fame, at the Board of Education’s Nov. 19 meeting.
Bramley died in April at the age of 77 after a long battle with cancer. However, his legacy and memory will be cemented in the Charles Raffetto Media Center alongside other Warriors in the prestigious Academic Hall of Fame.
Bramley’s widow, Susan, their children and numerous friends were in attendance at Tuesday’s meeting to unveil the commemorative plaque that will be featured in the Hall of Fame.
“I would like to thank the Board of Education for honoring my husband. No matter where he went, no matter what other schools he helped out, his blood always was blue, he would always say that to us. Manasquan was his first love, so thank you so much,” Susan Bramley said.
He graduated from Roanoke College in Salem, Virginia, in 1968, where he played on the lacrosse team and met his wife of 55 years. That same year, Bramley took a job as a science teacher in the Manasquan School District, where he served as a teacher and guidance counselor, while also coaching football and basketball until 1975. After a three-year hiatus away from Manasquan, Bramley returned in 1978, where for the next 30 years he served as the Director of Psychological and Pupil Personnel Services.
He continued his education at Seton Hall University in West Orange, receiving a Master of Art degree in School Psychology in 1973 and an education specialist degree in marriage and therapy/counseling in 1984.
In 2008, he retired, but remained committed to serving in public education, holding several positions in school districts throughout New Jersey.
Outside of serving the Manasquan School District, Bramley ran a private practice as a marriage and family therapist for 40 years, in addition to serving as a graduate student professor at Georgian Court University in Lakewood for 37 years.
Bramley’s name, alongside the other members of the MHS Academic Hall of Fame, can be found in the Charles Raffetto Media Center.
