BAY HEAD — Shore Saves, a nonprofit animal rescue organization based in Monmouth County, had a hauntingly successful Halloween-themed fundraiser on Oct. 17.
More than 70 people came out to The Grenville Hotel and Restaurant last Thursday to support the dog rescue. The group is committed to ensuring the animals find their forever homes and remain happy and healthy during their stay with Shore Saves.
The evening featured an open bar, complementary food from The Grenville, merchandise from Shore Saves, games, door prizes and a visit from one of their adoptable and adorable dogs, Kane.
Kane, who attended the event, is a 4-year-old mutt who weighs 66 pounds. He is a friendly and loving dog who adores attention and belly rubs. As he walked around the party with a big grin, he stole the show and many people’s hearts that evening. He is housebroken, knows commands and is an easy walker on a leash. Members of Shore Saves said he is the perfect walking buddy and also lazy couch buddy.
Sarah Fine, co-founder, board member and treasurer of Shore Saves, told The Ocean Star this is one of many fundraisers Shore Saves holds throughout the year to help them get the necessary funds to keep their dogs happy and healthy.
Fine gave a shout out to one of their largest sponsors, The Grenville, a dog-friendly hotel, for supporting them.
“All the money here today goes back towards the dogs, which most of our funds today are allocated towards veterinary bills and shelter expenses,” said Fine. “We are entirely donor-funded, so anything people donate tonight goes directly to the dogs. We are also 100% volunteers as well.”
