FREEHOLD — Adam C. Kleinwaks, 55, of Manasquan, has been charged with allegedly using a former business client’s credit card to purchase items he then resold to another client, netting more than $200,000, Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago announced in a press release on Wednesday.
Kleinwaks has been charged with second degree money laundering and second degree theft by unlawful taking, according to the press release.
According to the press release from the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office (MCPO), earlier this year the matter was referred to the MCPO Financial Crimes and Special Prosecutions Unit from security personnel of a credit card company.
After an investigation, the unit had identified that Kleinwaks’ fraudulently using a former client’s credit card to make unauthorized purchases totaling over $130,000, according to the press release.
According to the press release, Kleinwaks then “took the labels for recreational commercial products” he purchased and resold them to another company, receiving more than $200,000 in checks as payment. He then cashed those checks and made deposits into a bank account he controlled.
According to the press release, Kleinwaks’ turned himself in to authorities last week and was released on a summons. He is scheduled to appear in Monmouth County Superior Court on Thursday, Oct. 10.
The case is being prosecuted by Assistant Prosecutor Diane Aifer of the MCPO Financial Crimes and Special Prosecutions Unit.

Despite the charges, every defendant is presumed to innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
