WALL TOWNSHIP — For the 29th year in a row, The Historic Village at Allaire held an antique car show on Sunday, Aug. 25 at Allaire State Park.
Over 200 vintage and antique automobiles were on display in the parking lot area, and droves of people came to take a look. Food trucks, vendors and bakery treats from the village bakery were also available to visitors, as well as live music. $5 admissions gained access for those interested in the show, which ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“It was a great day and we exceeded our expectations on show cars and patrons. Just over 200 cars came out, and over 1,500 visitors were in attendance,” said the village’s executive director, Hance Sitkus. “We were very pleased with the event and the turnout.”
The 29th year of the event, members from different car-based groups throughout New Jersey were present, such as the Buick Club of New Jersey, which recently had its own show in the Wall Municipal Complex on July 20.
“I’ve only had this car for four years,” said Buick club member Joe Ianelli, of Monroe, who was showing off his white 1966 Buick Skylark near the village’s entrance. “This is a combination of two Skylarks…I went to go look at it and possibly pick it up, it was a no-brainer.”
A hit that started in 1985, individual auto owners, regardless of group affiliation, are welcome at the annual show, which had cars of all shapes and sizes; Larry Stanley, of Brielle, had his car shipped from South Carolina, a cherished relic that’s been in his family for generations.
“My grandmother first purchased this in ‘31, and my parents dated in this car,” Stanley told The Coast Star of his green 1931 Ford Model A. “This is really why I have it, to (show it off) and the sentimental value. I have it in my will for it to go to one of my sons with the stipulation that it never leaves the family.”
