BRICK TOWNSHIP — The township council introduced an ordinance to limit the weight of commercial vehicles from certain sections of Van Zile Road at the Wednesday, Nov. 8 council meeting.
The section of Van Zile Road that would be limited to four tons is between Route 70 and Burnt Tavern Road.
Councilman Vince Minichino said, “The police department’s traffic safety bureau and the Ocean County Engineer’s Office made the request to the NJDOT [New Jersey Department of Transportation] after investigating complaints from residents.”
If approved, the ordinance states that commercial vehicles over four tons gross vehicle weight are hereby excluded from the following described streets or parts of the streets, unless otherwise exempt by law, except for the pickup and delivery of materials on Van Zile Road.
If the ordinance is approved, the Brick Township Department of Public Works would be authorized and directed to install appropriate signage on the designated portions of Van Zile Road, as appropriate to give effect to this ordinance.
