LAKE COMO — The borough’s tourism commission is preparing for a strong inaugural year for its upcoming Small Business Saturday event, as discussed at its recent meeting on Monday night.
The new event will be held at borough hall on Saturday, Nov. 25 in conjunction with the borough’s annual tree lighting ceremony. The shopping event will take place from 3 to 8 p.m., with the tree lighting ceremony commencing at 7 p.m.
The event will also include a special visit from Santa Claus, who will arrive just after the tree lighting ceremony for holiday pictures inside of borough hall.
“It’s going to be great,” said Councilwoman and tourism commission liaison Hawley Scull. “We have some great local vendors because it’s Small Business Saturday, so it’s something to support them at the holidays.”
Thanks to high anticipation, the event has already sold out of vendor slots, according to Commission Secretary Amy Boney. The night will feature 14 local business vendors, as well as a booth for Lake Como merchandise. There also will be multiple musical performances including choirs from both a local church and Belmar Elementary School.
