The Route 70 Dunkin’ Donuts has received an approval for installation of a drive-thru lane with unanimous approval.
The Dunkin’ location at 1007-1009 Route 70 will be installing the drive-thru lane, with the purpose of drive-thru only service.
At the board’s Sept. 12 meeting, testimony was heard from store owner and operator Atul Patel, accompanied by attorney Keith Henderson. Mr. Patel has been operating the franchise since October 2006.
Board member Jay Jones had asked Mr. Patel of his plans regarding patrons inside the store.
“There would be a walk-up window and a drive-through,” said Mr. Patel. “Guests would not be able to enter the store.”
With this project, according to the engineer, Joseph Kociuba, the property will be moved back four feet, in compliance with Dennis O’Neill of Fisk Avenue.
“To any extent that we can help a small business, we do,” Board Chairperson Corinne Trainor told The Coast Star after the Nov. 7 meeting. “These are owned and operated by families and it’ll help mold the fabric of this community even more.”
