LAVALLETTE — As a full moon rose in the sky, trickers, treaters and ghouls of all ages came out in full force last Friday night, filling Lavallette with an eerily festive atmosphere for all to enjoy.
The night was heavily family-oriented, not lacking in fun activities for younger hoedowners to do. The fun began for the extra-smallest Lavallette resident with a concert and “silly sing-along” with musician Yosi Levin at the borough’s elementary school.
While the treats were provided by Jersey Mike’s Subs and served by the mayor and council, the day’s tricks were conjured up by Magician John “Mr. Magico” Carlson, who gave a performance including balloon animals and sleight-of-hand.
“John is such a wonderful magician,” said Council President Anita Zalom. “He entertained all ages—the room was packed.”
“Happy Halloween; give me something good to eat,” said Finley Smith, 4, of Toms River when asked why he was at the beach Friday.
Vera, also 4, joined the hoedown with her grandmother. She said that she had come all the way from California “to see grandma and grandpa,” who live in Lavallette.
