POINT PLEASANT — Mayor Robert Sabosik proclaimed Oct. 15 through Oct. 21 to be National Friends of the Library Week in Point Pleasant Borough.
In the proclamation made at the Monday meeting, Mayor Sabosik said, “The Friends of the Point Pleasant Borough Library raise money that enables our library to move from good to great – providing resources for additional programming, much needed equipment, support for children’s summer reading and special events throughout the year.”
He said that the friends, and all library staff members, continue to bring the best to the library, making it a “cornerstone of the community [by] providing opportunities for all to engage in the joy of life-long learning and connect with the thoughts and ideas of others from ages past to the present.”
“The friends’ gift of their time and commitment to the library sets an example for all in how volunteerism leads to positive civic engagement and the betterment of our community,” said Mayor Sabosik in the proclamation.
He then invited the friends and library staff up, where President of the Point Pleasant Borough Friends of the Library, Lisa Lieberson, thanked the mayor and said, “This recognition is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our members, who have not only contributed their time and energy, but have also demonstrated their commitment to the mission of our library.”
