SPRING LAKE — The council adopted a new ordinance Tuesday that amends an agreement from 1997 about the use of the Essex and Sussex, which is currently a residence for senior citizens.
The ordinance was introduced at the previous meeting on Oct. 10. It changes language in the existing agreement, which has been amended twice in the past.
The changes encompass four primary issues, said Mayor Jennifer Naughton. They modify the rules about sponsored events, allow residents to apply for counter-top kitchen appliances, modify the definition of a guest to expand guest access to food services and allow exceptions to the facility’s food service requirement in certain circumstances.
The ordinance removes a previous limitation on the number of sponsored events that may be held at the building during the summer. Now, up to two such events can be held per month, regardless of the time of year.
