BRICK TOWNSHIP — The Brick Township Mayor and Council honored Aedin Joseph Naiduk from Troop 39 for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout.
Mayor Lisa Crate called Aedin up to the front of the meeting room at the Tuesday, Oct. 10 council meeting.
Mayor Crate said, “Tonight we are recognizing Aedin for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank a boy scout can achieve. It is a very rare achievement and roughly five percent of scouts ever become an Eagle Scout.”
According to the mayor, since 1912, there have been about 2.5 million Eagle Scouts out of all the young people who have been in scouts.
Mayor Crate acknowledged notable people who have achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, which includes: astronaut Neil Armstrong, Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer, William Hanna of Hanna-Barbera, Congressman Chris Smith and film director Steven Spielberg.
Other notable people include: Sam Walton, the founder of Walmart; Michael Bloomberg, former Mayor of New York City; and basketball hall of famer and former U.S Senator Bill Bradley.
