SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS — The Borough of Spring Lake Heights announced the death of former Councilman Peter Gallo on Friday on its Facebook page [“Borough of Spring Lake Heights”]. Mr.Gallo died on Wednesday, Oct. 11 in his Spring Lake Heights home.
“The Borough of Spring Lake Heights is sad to share the passing of a former councilman Peter Gallo. He served for a number of years, prior to having to resign due to health issues,” the post said. “Rest in Peace Councilman Gallo.”
The borough council took time out of its Oct. 16 meeting in the municipal office to reflect on Mr.Gallo’s passing and extend their thoughts to the ones he left behind. “I think we were all equally shocked to hear that he succumbed to his illness,” said Heights Mayor Christopher Campion in his mayor’s report section of the meeting. “He fought very hard for a very long time…so it’s very sad…I ran with Peter and we spent a lot of time together. ”
Mr. Gallo’s wife, Natalie Jansen Gallo, had informed the council of his passing last week.
