BAY HEAD — All Saints Episcopal Church will be showing an exclusive screening of “The Philadelphia Eleven” on Friday Nov. 3.
The feature documentary film will screen at All Saints, 500 Lake Ave. in Bay Head on Friday, Nov. 3. A pre-screening celebratory reception in the parish hall begins at 6 p.m. The screening begins at 7 p.m. The film is about 90 minutes long.
The documentary centers the events before, during and after July 29, 1974, when four
Episcopal Church bishops ordained 11 women as priests. The ordinations happened
two years and a few weeks before the church agreed that it was permissible for women
to become priests and bishops.
“In 1974, a group of 11 women and their supporters organized their ordination to become Episcopal priests in an act of civil disobedience,” said Rev. Kathryn King, rector of All Saints, in a press release.
Tickets are available by calling the parish office at 732-892-7478.
