BRICK TOWNSHIP — The Brick Township Council introduced an ordinance to amend the speed limit on Herbertsville Road to 40 miles per hour between Maple Avenue and Lanes Mill Road.
Currently for the portion of Herbertsville Road that lies between Maple Avenue and Lanes Mill Road, the speed limit is 45 miles per hour.
Councilman Derrick Ambrosino said, “In July, the township received correspondence from Ocean County Engineer John Ernst in response to complaints received from multiple residents regarding speeding on Herbertsville Road.”
According to the councilman, two speed surveys were conducted along Herbertsville Road. The first speed survey was conducted from Jan. 17 to Jan. 23 in the vicinity of Saw Mill Road, and the second from Jan. 23 to Jan. 30 in the vicinity of Albemarle Road.
“The county speed study and analysis included field measurements and vehicle speeds, review of 85th percentile and average speed and review of the number of vehicles exceeding speed limit by five mile per hour and ten miles per hour,” said Councilman Ambrosino.
