AVON-BY-THE-SEA — The Wave of Hope Fight Against SSADH 12th annual benefit fundraiser will raise proceeds to aid in the research of a rare disease, succinic semialdehyde dehydrogenase [SSADH] deficiency, and is being presented in support of two Avon residents living with the affliction.
The event is Sunday, Oct. 22 from noon to 6 p.m. at The Columns restaurant, located at 601 Ocean Avenue. Tickets are $35 per person at the door, and will offer appetizers and entrees courtesy of The Columns, drink specials, an auction and live music by special guest The Pat Roddy Band.
Attendees can also donate directly to the SSADH Association via a poster that will be displayed at the event.
SSADH deficiency is a rare metabolic disease that has serious effects on speech, memory and gross motor skills.
Jesse Le Vine, an Avon resident, lifeguard chief and beachfront supervisor, has been organizing the fundraiser for his two daughters, Amber and Haley Le Vine, for the past 12 years.
