BELMAR — The mayor and council have approved a resolution contracting electrical repairs for the Volunteer Hook and Ladder Fire Company firehouse.
The progress toward correction of electrical problems at the firehouse had been the subject of heated discussion at a borough council meeting on Sept. 12.
During a council workshop meeting on Sept. 26, Mayor Gerald Buccafusco announced “We have signed a contract with an electrical contracting company to do the needed repairs to the 11th Avenue firehouse.
Resolution 2023–213, approved later that day, awarded a contract to Pat Maggio & Son Electric Inc., of Neptune, in the amount of $53,000 to complete the proposed electrical repairs for the fire station that has been with partial power since July 6.
The resolution follows a previously adopted resolution from July 25 that established emergency appropriations be designated “to determine the extent of the hazard created by the discovery of knob and tube electrical wiring at Hook and Ladder Fire Company premises and mitigate the same as necessary.”
