WALL TOWNSHIP — The Wall Township Police Department swore in three new police officers at the Wednesday, Sept. 27 township committee meeting.
“Almost a year ago, we had a change in command in the Police Department,” said Wall Police Chief Sean O’Halloran. “… In [our] analysis [of opportunities and threats], we identified that personnel was our main concern … making sure that we always have enough staff to keep our town safe.”
“Whatever we need to make our town safe – that is what Wall Township is known for,” said Chief O’Halloran after expressing gratitude to the township committee for their support of expanding the department.
After taking a series of physical and written tests as well as passing background checks, the Wall Police Department chose four officers out of 100 candidates.
Jared Conte, 22, of Farmingdale, was previously employed as a SLEO II with the Belmar Police Department. John Kelly, 24, of Wall Township, was previously employed as a SLEO II with the Sea Girt Police Department. Trent Powers, 23, of Wall Township, was previously employed as a SLEO II with the Spring Lake Police Department.
