MANASQUAN — As part of one of the borough’s latest projects, the new Manasquan Community Senior Center building is now open for recreational activities and available for resident use.
“We haven’t had any official opening yet, as far as a ribbon cutting, however, we’ve been offering the same programs, activities that we offered in our former building since Aug. 1,” said Erik Ertle, superintendent of Manasquan Recreation.
The Community Senior Center holds passive recreation programs, special events, allows for additional meeting space for town clubs and hosts Manasquan Senior programs and activities.
The new center, located at 63 Atlantic Ave., previously housed commercial businesses of COAST Rehab and The Training Room, whose leases both ended in June before the project began.
Mr. Ertle told The Coast Star that the center is definitely an upgrade to the previous location at the recreation annex building, but the department is still actively looking to modify and update the interior and exterior facades over the coming months.
