SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS — The Spring Lake Heights Parent Teacher Association [PTA] will host its annual Color Run on Sept. 23, when tons of colorful powder will be tossed at runners by teachers.
Spring Lake Heights PTA Vice President Colleen Solinski said that the best part of the run is “seeing everyone come out and the awesome community volunteers we have as color throwers. It is also fun to see what everyone looks like at the end of the run.”
“This is the 4th year of the Spring Lake Heights PTA Color Run,” Ms. Solinski said. “The run began in 2018 and continued in 2019. We then took a hiatus hosting many large events during the pandemic, but brought the run back in the fall of 2022 and are continuing the run this year after last year’s success.”
“The run began in 2018 when two Spring Lake Heights moms took this idea and literally ran with it as a way to bring the community together, especially at the start of a new school year. Today, the PTA volunteers carry on this event with the same mission started by these two mothers five years ago,” she said.
Jillian Kaczorowski, a teacher, said, “It is the absolute best watching your students approach your color station with the biggest smiles and dousing them in color. It is an overall fun and memorable morning for both the students and teachers.”
A few students, like Isabella in fourth grade, said that having the colorful powder thrown at them is a thrill in its own right. “[I] loved running with my friends and having all the color thrown at us,” she said of last year’s Color Run. “We laughed so hard and had so much fun.”
