LAKE COMO — The mayor and council introduced two ordinances at their meeting Tuesday night to amend the borough’s code regarding commercial vehicle parking and regarding planning board informal hearings.
Public hearings and a vote to adopt are set for the next council meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 19.
The first ordinance introduced at the meeting, Ordinance 2023-09, amends and supplements the new parking ordinance adopted last month restricting overnight parking of commercial vehicles on borough roads.
“We had a response from the community asking to allow certain commercial vehicles to park on the street and we’re making a change to that ordinance tonight, if it’s approved by the council, to say that a commercial vehicle that is owned and insured by a Lake Como resident under a certain size, under a specified size, may be parked on the street if they have a permit,” said Mayor Kevin Higgins.
Under Ordinance 2023-09, residents will be able to apply for a single commercial vehicle parking permit per residence, issued by the borough administrator, so long as the vehicle’s registration and the applicant’s driver’s license bear the same Lake Como address.
