The Brick Township Historic Preservation Commission and township council presented two historic preservation awards for the years 2021 and 2022 at the Aug. 22 council meeting.
Christine Schiess, chairperson of the Brick Township Historic Preservation Commission said, “Each year the commission honors a structure in Brick Township that has remained true to its original construction.”
The recipient for the 2021 Historic Preservation Award was the Osborn family, at 610 Herbertsville Road. According to Ms. Schiess, the original farmhouse on the property was constructed around 1850 and is positioned perpendicular to Herbertsville Road.
“Later around 1895 a gothic-style addition was added which faces Herbertsville Road. The home has two front porches and has been maintained by the Osborn family for more than 100 years,” said Ms. Schiess.
The 2022 Historic Preservation Award was given to the Dzugan family, who were not present at the council meeting on Aug. 22. Their home is at 520 Old Adamston Road.
