BRIELLE — Brielle Woman’s Club President Joan Morse has given her effort, time and energy to her community long before joining the club as a member eight years ago.
“Throughout my life, I’ve had a strong passion for volunteer work. It started with the Girl Scouts, then being a candy striper at Jersey Shore Medical Center … My heart has always been in giving back to the community,” Ms. Morse stated in the Brielle Woman’s Club member spotlight Facebook post.
Originally from the Jersey Shore, following her undergraduate and graduate schooling, Ms. Morse relocated to Delaware to work in research and development for an international pharmaceutical company.
As a chemist, she studied how the body reacts and handles various medications, and worked to find proper dosages and the frequency of doses that are necessary to arrive at the right effects.
During her career in Delaware, she volunteered her time delivering for Meals on Wheels.
“In Delaware, Meals on Wheels was run out of the senior center, so you just go and pick up your meals and they have them all sorted, and they give you your route… it would take a couple hours a day,” said Ms. Morse.
Ms. Morse also owned a brick-and-mortar dog-training business with a friend for a number of years. Simultaneously, she volunteered at a guide dog school assisting and preparing dogs for their guide dog training.
