BRICK TOWNSHIP — Normandy Beach will have its annual flag raising ceremony on Sixth Avenue by the ocean with a cannon going off at 1:30 p.m. on the Fourth of July.
The ceremony is hosted by and takes place on the property of Bob Mrozek and will feature a bagpipe performance by the Shamrock and Thistle Pipe Band.
Mr. Mrozek is a Brick Township resident and is a veteran who served as a first lieutenant from 1961 to 1963 in Korea and holds the flag raising ceremony annually on his property.
A flyover by the Black Sheep Squadron and will perform a “Deadman Rollover” will take place during the ceremony as well.
Mr. Mrozek said, “Last year we had about 60 to 70 veterans and active people from ranks of general to people who enlisted. It is quite an event right now.”
Mr. Mrozek’s goal is to honor veterans and America by holding the flag-raising ceremony each year.
