MANASQUAN — The Manasquan Tourism Commission will be hosting its patriotic bike parade and contest on Sunday, July 2 beginning at 5:15 p.m. at the Little League field.
Participants for the children’s bicycle-decorating contest are asked to arrive at the field by 5:15, with judging and award trophies being given out at 5:45 p.m.
“The Fourth of July celebration in Manasquan is an occasion that brings our community together in a spirit of unity and celebration,” said Peter Goetz, tourism chair. “This year’s event holds a special place in our hearts as we honor the remarkable dedication and service of Ray Summers, Dominic Bossone and the late Penny Hamilton. We invite all members of our community to join us as we pay tribute and revel in the festivities.”
The bike parade will leave the field at 6 p.m. and travel down First Avenue and the beach macadam, finishing at Main Beach.
At 7:30 p.m., participants are invited to enjoy music from the band Wave Length, followed by a fireworks show at dusk, sponsored by Leggett’s Sand Bar, which has been contributing to this event for years.
“We extend our deepest gratitude to Leggett’s Sand Bar for their continuous support in making these fireworks displays a reality,” Mr. Goetz said. “Their commitment to our community exemplifies the true spirit of patriotism and community spirit that defines our Fourth of July celebration.”
