BAY HEAD — Although school is out for the summer, the Bay Head Board of Education [BOE] is one step ahead as the members discussed preparations for the 2023-2024 school year during the June 13 board meeting. One topic included the idea to adjust the payment process for the after school program.
Adjustments would include eliminating sibling discounts, cutting back billing from every 15 minutes to one hour, and applying a $50 registration fee for anyone who intends to use the program. According to Business Administrator Christina Galvao, three to four students were attending the after-school program daily.
“We can send out a questionnaire to parents and survey to see if they intend to use the after-school program and, if so, for how many days,” said Shannon Curtis, board president.
Other topics discussed included the possibility of renovating the school sign, the replacement of a water line, as well as, the approval of school faculty and board member appointments.
The Bay Head Board of Education approved a bill payment of $143,865 for the 2022-2023 school year. According to Ms. Galvao, the after-school program was one factor that could have negatively impacted this sum.
