POINT PLEASANT — The annual Summerfest celebrations helped kickoff the summer season last weekend within the borough.
Hundreds of people showed up throughout the day to engage in games, food, fun and festivities, all featured at Community Park.
Mayor Robert Sabosik said, “Once again, the chamber of commerce has done our community proud. There were new vendors keeping everything fresh and their beer garden gave adult residents a place to socialize, catch up and celebrate everything we love about living in Point Boro. Once everyone was confident that the rain was going to hold off, the crowd was fantastic. Over the years, this event has become a tradition as our own local kick off to summer. There really is no better place to be than the [borough].”
While the weather looked like it was going to rain out the event, Mother Nature ended up being on the borough’s side as eventually the cloudy skies broke into a sunny day.
Roughly 130 vendors crowded the park, many with games, prizes, promotions and information about their businesses or organizations offered much needed recreation to the event. One of these vendors was the Point Pleasant Borough Post Office, which had a “Guess the Zip Code” game, where residents had to guess the New Jersey zip code. Whether they succeeded or failed, residents were given a bag, water bottle or other small souvenir.
