BRIELLE — The Brielle council approved a bond ordinance of $55,000 for the remediation of the borough hall building during the second reading at a council meeting Monday night.
To ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility standards [ADA], safety updates to the building need to be completed in regards to bacteria, odor and mold.
The building is also experiencing moisture issues and they hope to “moisture-proof” the inside as part of the project. In phase one, the borough received a grant from the Community Development Block, a partial grant for phase two and now extra funds are required to also relocate borough offices from the downstairs to the upstairs.
The council discussed that it is not actually taking on additional debt due to the fact that there is $500,000 in the Capital Improvement Program funds already, making it a self-funded project.
